MANKIND’S HUMAN SPIRIT AFTER THE FALL

The peace and fellowship in Eden were abruptly torn to tatters when the husband and his wife decided to disobey God to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Their disobedience instantly divided them, from God and from each other, and from the completeness of His entire creation.  At that devastating moment all spiritual light was extinguished in them.  Spiritual darkness and obscurity of soul or mind completely possessed humanity and all their descendants, (1 Ths. 5:23; Rom. 3:10-18,23.)

At that impenetrable dark moment, spiritual and physical death was born, (Heb. 2:14-15.)

Sickness and difficulties oozed into humankind’s soul or mind and body, (Isa. 53:4-5.)

Hatred, lies, deception, treason, murder, deceit, rejection, sexual immorality, and sorrow attacked God’s once perfect spiritual people in merciless, unstoppable gangs.  Human exploitation and calamity assaulted even the animal kingdom; overran the land and the sea.  In one moment, chaos overpowered the whole planet in its smothering embrace of death and disaster, (Rom. 8:19-22.)

It all began that dark day of The Fall in the Garden in Eden

“If Adam and Eve confessed their sin and asked God’s forgiveness,” someone asked, “would God have forgiven them?” (1 Jn. 1:7-9.)

The answer: Yes, of course.

“Would they then have remained in the Garden to live in the presence of God as if The Fall never happened?”

The answer is a definite no.

“But does God’s forgiveness not blot out all our sin?”

Absolutely.  But the consequences of sin nevertheless reproduce.  The reason why Satan was so eager to tempt humanity to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is because he is a spirit without a physical body.  Until that moment the sin of Satan, the once perfect but fallen angel, was confined to the spirit world.

However, when humankind ate of the forbidden fruit, sin spread from the spirit world to infest the physical level as well.  Satan’s state or spiritual place of sin and cursedness without God took possession of humanity.  His evil nature came to dwell inside them.  His spiritual sin became “flesh.”  Hamartia, meaning ‘from sin,’ took on human form.  Hamartanö, meaning to ‘miss the mark’ or ‘to fall short of the glory of God,’ became the essence of humankind’s existence on earth.

At creation, God warned mankind that they will “surely die” if they eat of the forbidden fruit.

When they disobeyed, they did not fall down dead physically.  Yet, their ever-living human spirits died inside them as their spiritual death occurred instantly.  The spiritual death of humanity resulted in destructive consequences for all of creation, as at that moment Satan’s sin thoroughly corrupted the male and female, human managers of planet earth, (Gen. 1:27-28.)

Sin is not so much to lie, to steal, and so forth.  To lie, steal and murder are some of the symptoms of sin.

Sin itself is the state of sharing in Satan’s being while living without God.  Satan’s hamartia is a place, a spiritual position without God, which was now inhabited by a most evil kind of being.  A once perfectly good but now a most wicked species called humanity that possesses the nature of Satan, (Rom. 3:23; Jn. 8:44.)

When humankind ate of the forbidden fruit, they absorbed the spiritual ‘cell-structure,’ ‘DNA’ or “sinful seed” of the fallen angel into their being, and descended to his level of uncleanness and ungodliness.  Spiritually, humanity became ‘one’ with him or “flesh of his flesh.”  From that day on, all of humankind would naturally possess the evil nature of Satan, since spiritual/soulical children of the devil were born on that terrible day in Eden, (1 Ths. 5:23.)

“By one man, [Adam], sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned…” (Rom. 5:12.)  Henceforward, all of humanity would inherit Satan’s evil nature ‘by default;’ they would be conceived and born in his spiritual state of sin.  For this reason, Jesus said to the unrepented Pharisees in John 8:44, “You are of your father the devil, [born from evil], and the lusts of your father you [choose to] do…”

Adam and Eve might not have realised it at the time, but their disobedience had indescribable consequences for the whole of planet earth and all of humanity.  They actually sold humankind’s entire spiritual, soulical, and physical heritage for a meagre fruit or one decisive moment of disobedience to God, (Heb. 12:16; Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:21-22; 1 Ths. 5:23.)

And so, they and all of their descendants fell from their righteous, sinless, blessed, spiritual place in God, (Rom. 5:12.)

They lost their position of spiritual authority and their royal reign in Eden, (Rom. 3:10-18.)

They forfeited God’s honor and His glory departed from them, (Rom. 3:23.)

God banished them from His holy presence and peace, (Gen. 3:24.)

The kings of God became slaves to sin and Satan, (2 Pet. 2:19.)

Blessed humankind fell to a position of cursedness without God, (Deuteronomy 28; Gen. 3:14-19; Gal. 3:10.)

Through their descent, they raised Satan to the status of a god in this world, and endowed him with immeasurable power in the physical realm, as he continually works through deceived humans, who choose to follow him, (2 Cor. 4:3-4; 1 Jn. 5:19.)

The consequences of their position of sin without God also infiltrated the physical planet.

Systematically, their ruin oozed through God’s entire creation to contaminate and will, in the end, destroy all the animals and plants, even the elements, (Gen. 3:17; Rom. 8:19-22; Mt. 24:29; 2 Pet. 3:10-14; Rev. 21:1.)  Henceforth, everything and everyone on earth would be subjected to the consequences of humankind’s sinful state.  Thus, they are vulnerable to the destruction, deception and menace of Satan, executed through his human subjects, (2 Cor. 11:13-15.)

Worst of all, spiritually dead humanity could not worship God in spirit and in truth anymore, (John 4:21-24.)

God, being the Holy Spirit, chose not to communicate with them on their fallen, physical level, (Jn. 4:21-24.)  They, being only flesh, (of fallen soul and feeble body), were unfit to enter into His most holy presence.  Divorced from their God, they could not communicate with Him anymore.

Since that dark day of doom the spiritually dead human race would have to live without their God.  He created them for His pleasure, but they grieved His heart, (Gen. 6:5-6; Mal. 2:15.)  Alienated from His life, light, and blessing, they would experience extreme degradation, pain, and sorrow during their lives on earth, for God simply restrained His presence from where they existed in their spiritual land of sin here on earth, ( Rom. 3:10-23.)

Þ They found themselves in a dreadful position without God.  A place of utter misery.  Since that forever-too-late day a deep loneliness, a yearning for love and acceptance that cannot be filled by any material means, would be their constant companion.  No matter how ambitious or driven they would work at it, no person, status, wealth, or power would ever be able to satisfy that deep, insatiable void deep inside them, (1 Jn. 2:15-17.)

Þ Dilapidated and ruined, humankind’s ever-living human spirits lapsed into a heap of shrivelled, supernatural matter.  Henceforward, their spirits would only be able to send out pulses.  Distress calls to the spirit world.  Cries of longing for the perfect spiritual life that once was their natural life in God.  Their human spirits, now cut off from God, would thirst in vain for the life and presence of their Maker.  Caught in this dreadful position, their spirits could not connect with and worship God as a reality any more.

Þ The dead yet ever living human spirit, yearning for its lost mystical life, became a breeding-ground for Satan to present himself with every opportunity as the ‘true’ god and the ‘real’ way to spiritual life and soulical ‘enlightenment.’  He brought religion of all kinds into the world, which teach, “Do what thou whilst” under a cloud of makeshift ‘holiness.’  False understanding of God and His Word, false ceremonial and immoral laws, false hope, a false heaven, false preachers, and a myriad of false belief-systems.  In fact, the fallen angel turned everything good and Godly into replicas of “good” and “godliness” that are fully inhabited by utter falsehood, (2 Ths. 2:3-4; 1 Pet. 5:8; 2 Cor. 4:3-4.)

It is the devil’s nature to work underhanded and in secret.  Since that day when Satan used the deceived snake to camouflage himself as one of Eden’s harmless animals, he always cuts his lies very close to the truth in order to confuse and deceive humanity, and to lead them astray.  He hardly ever introduces himself as the personification of evil that walks about “as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”  He nearly always introduces himself as good and honest, (1 Pt. 5:8.)

Trust me,” he hisses sneakily.  He knows very well how to do this; he was once the most perfect and holy angel.  Without leaving them a chance to find the real God and to live in a true relationship with Him, Satan geniusly murdered humanity spiritually with his religious hypocrisy; cutting off their communication with God, Who is Spirit, (Eph. 6:11; Jn. 4:21-24.)

MANKIND’S SOUL OR MIND AFTER THE FALL

At a funeral one often hears the following ode, “Jim was such a great person.  He had such a good heart.  If anyone deserves to be in heaven, it is Jim!”  Sadly, Jim was a dedicated Christian; attending church as well as the masonic lodge.

We would like to believe this double sided lie, but it is a blatant deception that humanity is essentially good.  It is an even greater lie that the so-called goodness and religiosity of humanity can bring them closer to God or allow them to deserve a place in heaven, (Gen. 6:5-6.)  We are all inherently bad, corrupt, false, cruel, and lawless.  Since that day in Eden, we all sin naturally.  “There is none righteous, no, not one;” Paul wrote in Rom. 3:10-18,23, “there is none that understands [spiritual things;] none that seeks after God [in the right way,] none that does good [as God intended through His inward Moral Law.]  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God…”

We do not have to teach our children to be naughty and nasty.  They seem to be little “angels” but are actually naughty and nasty by nature.  Accordingly, God gave them parents to teach them what is good and right.  It is the responsibility of parents to impress upon their children the goodness and truth of God, because Satan imparted all his godlessness to humanity at the fall, (Deut. 11:18-19.)

Problem is, how do they do that if they do not even know what it means?

Fact remains, as humankind opened their carnal eyes that day in the garden, their spiritual eyes slammed shut.

Their living human spirits or “hearts” were the life-spring of God’s truth and goodness, (1 Ths. 5:23; Prov. 4:23.)  But through the fall, God’s character of love and truth also fell into a state of spiritual death inside them.  As a result, they would become all that is false and evil, (Mt. 15:17-20.)  Humanity, although they can choose to show some good, would henceforward discover the deepest level of sin within themselves.

This is the knowledge of the tree of good and evil that they now possessed.  Genesis 3:7: “The eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”  Humanity, naked without God’s presence and glory, would from now on sew fig leaves, [lies, sin, pretence, and deception,]  together to try and cover their sin.  Aprons to cover their true feelings, motives, and the bare facts of their evil deeds; dodging God’s all-seeing eyes.  Fig leaves of escapism that would always put humankind and their Maker asunder, (Isa. 1:18-20.)

When God confronted humankind in Eden with their sin, the complete contamination of their souls became evident.  In total treachery the husband instantly turned against God and his wife, whom God had taken from his side.  In Gen. 3:12 he blamed her as follows, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the woman, following the example of her husband, answered in verse 13, “The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.”

Blame shifting and false accusation, or actually, the evasion of personal responsibility, manifested in their corrupted minds.  To this day, this sin still reigns supreme in humanity.  Created to live honorably and responsibly before God, they immediately degenerated into radical sinners, controlled by Satan’s rebellious nature.  During the years that followed, irresponsibility became the evil trademark of all God’s fallen kings.

Paul described the darkened mind of man in Rom. 7:17-18.  He wrote, “[I believe] it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me...  [In my unrenewed mind or thoughts, Romans 8; 12:1-3.]  For I know that in me, [that is in my corrupted mind,] dwells no good thing; for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I do not find.”  Paul was speaking about the battle with his fallen soul: his will, emotions, and intellect — the sinful mindsets and beliefs, which the Bible calls “the sinful flesh,” (2 Cor. 10:3-6.)  This is why he commanded that we “must not conform to the [beliefs] of this world, but must be transformed in our minds to know that… perfect will of God [to obey Him,]” (Rom. 12:1-3.

However, another question arises.  We know evil dwells in our ‘minds’ — but how do feeble humans like us change that?

GOD’S PLAN OF REDEMPTION

In His great mercy, God had a plan of salvation for humankind even before they sinned — praise His holy Name!  (Gen. 3:15.)  Nevertheless, after the fall, corrupted man would ‘automatically’ live without God; relying on his sin-polluted mind to make his own way through life to eventually be swallowed by the black hole of eternal death without Jesus.

To rectify this dreadful situation in the garden already, it would have been necessary for God to cast the sin-nature out of humanity to redeem them from their descended state of sin.  In fact, humankind deserved obliteration to be recreated into the glory of God and become partakers of God’s Holy Spirit – to possess His Nature; His Breath or Spiritual ‘DNA’ once more.  Thank God, annihilation was never God’s plan for humanity; He intended to redeem or deliver us all on a personal level through a personal, spiritual rebirth, (Jn. 3:16; 1:11-14; 3:3-5.)

Yet, it was impossible for humanity to experience this rebirth that day of the fall, as God will always remain the righteous Judge, (Jn. 3:16; 1:12-13.)  He will never violate His Holy Nature by leaving sin unpunished, (Rev. 20:11-15.)  God sovereignly prescribes punishment for every transgression of the Law.  God will only grant forgiveness and redemption once the punishment that suits the crime has been redeemed in full, (Rom. 3:23; 2 Tim. 4:8; Heb. 12:23.)

This is why Hebrews 9:22 states, “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.”  Some people find the shedding of blood in the remission of sin repulsive, because they do not understand God’s righteous Nature, the severity of The Fall, and the requirements of His protective Law.  However, those who serve Satan fixate on murder and the most incredible forms of torture to drink blood and eat even human flesh, which they sacrifice in a satanic attempt to replicate the most important meaning of God’s holy requirements.

Þ Because the human spirit died and the soul was corrupted at the fall, God’s punishment comprised of a soul for a soul.  Lev. 17:11-12: “For the soul of the flesh is in the blood; I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul…” A soul or the consciousness; the essence of physical life, cannot be sacrificed without the shedding of blood.  The prescribed price for the remission of sin will always be a life for a life – but the sacrificed life had to be an absolutely sinless one, (Ex. 12:5; Heb. 9:14; 1 Pet. 1:19.)

So, fallen humanity transgressed God’s Law in the garden and could never again fulfill the Law on their own.  They died spiritually and could not atone for their sin on a spiritual level, and their polluted souls were dragged down to the level of Satan’s corrupted state.  Every physical and spiritual sacrifice they could possibly bring would be tainted with sin, for they now possessed the knowledge of evil as well as good.  They were of Satan’s kind; his spiritual ‘species.’  How could such fallen creatures, by their own merit, enter into a right standing with the Most High and Holy God again?

None of the holy angels could atone for the breaking of God’s holy Law either.  They are simply the wrong species for this task.  They do not share in the physical flesh of humanity and has no blood to shed to make atonement for the transgressions of God’s Law, (Lev. 17:11.)  And so, they could not accomplish anything with the sin state.  Nobody could fulfill the Law or do anything that would be suitable or sufficient to come into a right standing with God again.  No sacrifice would have been high enough, holy enough, sinless enough, good enough, or expensive enough to break the curse of hamartia - the separation from God into a place or position of bondage, sin, and cursedness, that infected humanity and all of their descendants at the fall, (Rom. 5:12; 1 Cor. 15:21, Deut. 28.)

Only God Himself was worthy enough to become the suitable sacrifice to totally redeem humanity, (Jn. 1:1-14.)

God Himself was willing to fulfill the Law to cancel the terrible ‘debt He did not owe;’ but only at His appointed time.

At the right moment in history, He would send His Son Jesus, Who is God Himself.

God Himself would take on human form, “become flesh;” be born as the Divine God-man; (fully God and fully man,) in order to become obedient to physical death to fulfill God’s entire Law as the complete, once-off, atonement on Golgotha.

The Name of that Great and Incomprehensible Holy Savior is Jesus; the God of the whole Bible

God Jesus became the One and Only Lamb of God, Who would be able to fulfill God’s entire law for all eternity, to perfectly reconcile all of believing humanity to their Creator again, (Jn. 3:16; Col. 2:9-15; Heb. 1:1-6; Mt. 5:17.)
