Defending God’s Truth in Church Doctrine and Political History – Renette Vermeulen

(Continued from)

DID ANY OF THE MANY JW PROPHESIES COME TRUE

Determining between true and false prophecy is a very serious.  To establish what the term ‘false prophet’ really means, we must believe what God stated in Deut. 18:21-22, “How shall we know the word which the Lord has spoken?  When a prophet speaks in the Name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which The Lord has not spoken…”

Thus, if the following prophesies from the mouths of their leaders came true; Jehovah’s Witnesses should be exonerated from false accusation.  If not, false prophesy always leads people away from the Lord, therefore, God commanded in Deut. 13:8-13, “You shall not consent to [a false prophet] or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him…”

Despite the fact that many Jehovah’s Witnesses deny that they are prophets, the Watch Tower issue of April 1, 1972, p. 297, declares unmistakably that all JWS are prophets.  As a result, all JWS share in the truth or falsehood of the following prophesies which should still be available in their church libraries.

The Society’s ‘bible,’ the Watchtower, is viewed as the ‘voice’ of God.

Therefore, it is to be expected that all Watchtower prophecies and teachings should be flawless or at least, in context, near flawless.  Remember, these were not ‘inspired’ as Biblical Scriptures were ‘given’ by the Holy Spirits.  Rather, the Watchtower is the direct ‘spokesman’ of God.  Thus, every word in the Watchtower and other JW literature was, and is viewed as ‘dictated’ by God Himself.

Well, is the Watchtower really flawless?  Let us see.

The 1889 issue, "The Time is at Hand," declares on p. 101, "The battle of the great day of God Almighty (Rev. 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914, with the complete overthrow of earth's present rule, is already commenced." We all know 1914 came and went and this prophecy did not come true.  The Watch Tower tried to ‘rectify’ this prophecy and predicted in the 1918 issue of "Millions Now Living Will Never Die," p. 89, "Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the apostle in Hebrews 11 to the condition of human perfection." To this day in 2017 this prophecy too, did not come true.  Nevertheless, in the August 1968 issue of, ‘Why Are You Looking Forward to 1975?’ p. 494, the return of Christ in 1975 was prophesied again!  Of course, this too, did not come true.

In all fairness towards humanity and Jehovah’s Witnesses in particular, how can anyone tolerate, defend, and follow such false prophets, and belong so such a disobedient, deceitful church system, based on masonic dogma?

‘IS GOD’S ‘PERSONAL NAME’ JEHOVAH, AS JWS CLAIM?

The Jehovah-Witness’ claim, “Jehovah is the personal and only name of God.” Supposedly, “God” is “merely a title, and the real name for God is Jehovah.  Unless one calls on the true name of God, ‘Jehovah,’ one cannot be saved.”

Let us test this exclusive religious assertion in the light of contextual Biblical truth, not in the ‘light’ of ‘personalized’ Russellite bibles or any other ‘authoritive’ writings such as the Watchtower!

The Jewish Encyclopaedia, “Jehovah” - a mispronunciation of the Hebrew YHWH, the Name of God. This pronunciation is grammatically impossible. The form 'Jehovah' is a philological impossibility."

The New Jewish Encyclopaedia, “It is clear that the word Jehovah is an artificial composite.”

Encyclopaedia Judaica, “The true pronunciation of the tetragrammaton YHWH was never lost. The Name was pronounced Yahweh. It was regularly pronounced this way at least until 586 B.C., as is clear from the Lachish Letters written shortly before this date.”

The Universal Jewish Encyclopaedia, “Jehovah is an erroneous pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton of a four lettered Name of God, made up of the Hebrew letters Yod He Vav He. The word "Jehovah" therefore is a misreading for which there is no warrant and which makes no sense in Hebrew.”

Even the real Hebrew word “Yehowah” is neither ‘a name’ nor a ‘personal name’ in itself.  It is the national Title, which Jews use to call God “The Lord.”  Strong’s Concordance, “Yehowah [YHWH] means ‘Lord’ or ‘The Lord;’ Self-Existent or Eternal.”  As all the other ‘Names’ of God, “Yehowah” is descriptive of God’s Nature, Character, and Work.

Calling God “Yehowah” does not denote exclusivity of salvation; the word merely refers to “The Lord!”

Jehovahs Witnesses erroneously use the invented name ‘Jehovah’ to support their exclusive religion.  Therefore, as all other schisms of Roman Catholic Christianity, (the Church of Rome is the spiritual mother of all Christian denominations, 1 Cor. 1:10-18,) JWs claim there is no salvation outside this organisation.  In fact, they allege there is no salvation except for those who, as members of this society, call God by the so-called ‘name’ of ‘Jehovah!’

It is reported from most scholars of the Bible, “There are four primary ‘Titles’ of God in the Old Testament, namely, GOD (Elohim), LORD (Yehowah)   I AM, (YHWH or Yahweh), and MASTER (Adonis.) Besides these, the God of the Bible is called by nearly a hundred compound ‘descriptive titles…’”

Since when did the God of the Bible declare that not the Hebrews only, but all the Gentile nations too, must speak Hebrew or call Him by His many Hebrew ‘Names’ to be saved?  God clearly states in Rev. 5:9, “…For You were slain and have redeemed us to God by our blood out of every tribe, and tongue and people and nation…”

Since Yehowah in Hebrew simply means “The Lord,” I can call God in Afrikaans, “Die Heer;” “Nkosi” in Zulu; in German, “Der Herr,” in Italian, “Il Signore,” in Portugese, “O Senor,” in French, “Le Seignior,” etc.

Consequently, when I say “The Lord Jesus,” I actually say Yehowah Jesus!  When I say, “The Lord created the heavens and the Earth,” I actually say, “Yehowah created the heavens and the earth.”

If ever there was a ‘personal’ Name for God, (Elohim,) then it is the honourable title, “Father!”  Jesus, being “One” in Essence, Nature, and Divinity with the Father, taught all His disciples to address God as “Heavenly Father,” (Col. 2:9.)  [See the ‘Names,’ descriptive of God’s Character and Nature, in the Bible.]

IS SALVATION POSSIBLE IN THE JEHOVAH”S WITNESS SOCIETY?

The Organization and it’s guide and voice, the Watchtower, rob people of True Salvation in and through the Jesus Christ of the BibleThe Jehovah’s Witness Society claims that Jesus is “not the mediator for all mankind” but only for a small group of people, (the 144,000 Hebrews from the 12 tribes named in Rev. 14,) whom they determine are their “anointed.”

Just read Rev. 14 for yourself.  The 144,000 from Rev. 14 are Jesus’ Hebrew disciples from the 12 tribes of Israel and not JWs.  Scripture says these are 12,000 [truly believing Hebrews in Christ] from every tribe.  And here are the tribes mentioned in this passage: From the tribe of Judah 12,000; tribe of Reuben 12,000, tribe of Gad 12,000, tribe of Asher 12,000, tribe of Naphtali 12,000, tribe of Manasseh 12,000, tribe of Simeon 12,000, tribe of Levi 12,000, tribe of Issachar 12,000,  tribe of Zebulun 12,000, tribe of Joseph 12,000, and from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

JWS say:  “For there is one God and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all…” —1 Timothy 2:5-6 (NASB – New American Standard Bible) “Mediator: One who interposes between two parties at variance to reconcile them.” —Insight, vol. 2, p. 360

“If Jesus is Not Your Mediator “Reconciling” You to God, Who Is?

“Jesus Christ is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, [JWs] which is limited to only 144,000 members.” —Worldwide Security Under the “Prince of Peace,” p. 10 (View PDF of this page)”  As seen, this entire 144,000 doctrine is a total misconception according to Rev. 14!

They forget to begin this gross twisting of God’s Holy Word with the context of the preceding verse that proclaims Jesus Christ and no one else is indeed the Mediator between God [and all] men. 1 Tim. 2:3-4, “God our Savior… [Jesus] desires all men to be saved and to come to the [saving] knowledge of the [real truth of Scripture.]

Biblical “born again” believers versus the JWs ‘born again elite class’

JW’s Born Again Definition: “Being born again involves being baptized in water (“born from water”) and begotten by God’s spirit (“born from . . . spirit”), thus becoming a son of God with the prospect of sharing in the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3-5) Jesus had this experience, as do the 144,000 who are heirs with him of the heavenly Kingdom.”  The rest of the JWs, the “discreet slave class” only have an ‘earthly hope;’ that is to live in the ‘restored paradise on earth.’

Firstly, the “water of the Word” is Jesus’ real Scriptural truth, of which physical water is the mere symbol,  (Jn. 1:103; 7:38-39; 4:14.)

Secondly, everyone on earth, in order to be saved, must personally believe in and accept Jesus as Christ, God, and Lord.  This is the spiritual rebirth, which every believer in Christ worldwide and through the ages had to experience.  Jn. 1:12-13, “As many as received Him, [as Christ and God, verse 11,] to them He gave the right to become children of God, to [all] those who believe in his name; (Jn. 3:16) who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, [churches, societies and organizations and their doctrines] but of God…”  That is why Jesus commanded in Jn. 3:3-5, “Unless one is [spiritually] born again, [through personal faith in Christ,] he cannot see [perceive or understand] the Kingdom of God… Unless one is born of water [Jesus Himself and the truth of the Word; He Is the Truth and the Word, Jn. 14:6; 1:1-3,] and the [conviction and power of the Holy] Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.  What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit,” (Jn. 16:8.)

(See Worldwide Security Under the Prince of Peace, 1986, p. 10) The Watchtower instructs Jehovah’s Witnesses that they cannot be “born again” (except for the ‘born again’ elite class,) and claims that spiritual “adoption” is only for their small group of people whose positions in heaven have already been filled.”

In reality, the real Bible openly teaches, “God so loved the whole world that whoever [personally] believes in [Jesus Christ His Son,] will not perish but have eternal life!”  (Jn. 3:16.)

“The Watchtower prevents people from a personal relationship with Jesus by claiming it is improper to “pray” to Jesus, but Jesus told his disciples to “…ask Me anything….and I will do it” (John 14:14). Paul prayed to Jesus at 2 Corinthians 12:8-9, and Stephen prayed to Jesus at Acts 7:59.”

Salvation is in and through the Organization

The entire context of Biblical truth, as expressed in the New Testament, declares that salvation is by the grace of, personal faith in and discipleship of the Biblical Christ only.  However, Russellites teach they believe in Jesus and what He has done for “them” (not for the whole world as well,) at Calvary, but “that is just not enough.”  They “must do Jehovah’s will” by [aggressively] distributing Watchtower literature from home to home, in the streets, at bus stops and train stations and everywhere else they can possibly make new converts.

“Incomplete Atonement.”  As millions of followers of Christian divisions or denominations worldwide, JWs recite Lu. 13:23-24 ‘as evidence’ of this doctrine of ‘incomplete atonement,’ which calculates as follows, faith + works = salvation.  If only all people would read God’s Word, the Bible, for themselves and in context!  This passage in Luke does not say we must accept Jesus and His complete atonement in our place, and also work religiously to add to our salvation.

The context of Jesus’ answer in Lu. 13:23-28 pertains to the question whether only a few believers such as the JWs would be saved.  He commanded, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many… will seek to enter and will not be able, [because they glide along the broad road of legalistic religion, and never ‘strive’ to get onto the Narrow Way, which is Jesus Christ Himself, the Only Way that leads to everlasting life, (Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-5; 14:6.)  Thus, in the day of Jesus return to earth, to, according to the real Bible, fetch His Biblical believers to be with Him in heaven, [not a paradise on earth,] legalistic church members and Kingdom Hall attendees will have to hear His judgement,] “I tell you I do not know you, where you are from.  Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.  There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, [which is eternal hell, not an ‘annihilation’ of non-JWs,] when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, [which has nothing to do with the Kingdom Hall of the JWS] and yourselves thrust out…”

This passage relates directly to Mt. 7:21-24, where Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many [religionists, who tried to ‘earn’ their salvation] will say to Me in that day… have we not cast out demons in Your Name, and done many wonders in our Name?  And then, I will declare to them, I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!  Therefore, whoever hears these [contextual truths of the Bible,] and does [or obeys] them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock…”

Jesus commanded only one New Testament Law for His New Covenant believers: The Royal or Moral Law of Love! (Jn. 13:34.)  By obeying all the Moral precepts of this law, which all pertain to Love for God and humanity will be done ‘naturally.’  This is not a strict legalistic doctrine of works, ‘striving’ to earn, or add to our salvation.  This is willing and loving obedience to the inward Moral Law of Jesus as the Holy Spirit leads us!  To add true, Scriptural faith to ‘works’ (Jam. 2:14-24) simply means, we must have a complete change of heart!  If we really love God and belong to Him, our hearts must cry out Him to empower us through the indwelling Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16) to do the ‘loving works’ that fit our repentance from harsh, unbending, loveless religiosity!  That is why Paul warned in Gal. 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free [from the legalistic works of religion,] and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage, [which demands that you ‘strive hard’ to ‘earn your own salvation by abiding to all the unbiblical, Scripturally uncontextual, man-made laws of religion!]”

In contrast, Jehovah’s Witnesses follow a rigid, legalistic ‘salvation’ very much apart from Biblical truth, based on works, or slavish obedience to the Organization.  It is clear that JWS do not understand a real Biblical relationship with God, or the grace of God in Christ.  In fact, as in all religion, church Christianity too; the organization controls them with fear.  Their salvation pivots on their diligence and obedience to the Organization, not on the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible.

Even so, deep down, they do not have a clue as to whether they would really be saved or not, (1 Jn. 5:11-13.)  The only way of salvation JWS know, is not a ‘way’ at all, but a stringent, mind and life controlling methodology.

“JWS cannot even possess or hold a piece of critical literature about the Watchtower without fear that it would allow “Satan’s thinking” into their minds.  Paranoia runs rampant in this religion…  Everything produced by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society makes it taboo for them to [read, listen to, watch, etcetera, what is not about the Kingdom Hall and its literature.] This type of fear even controls Ex-Witnesses for years after they have left.  Many are afraid to enter churches for fear of that a ‘cross’ might be posted on the wall, or fear that demons will jump on them when they enter.  Fear of ‘apostates’ also keep many trapped to avoid any spiritual literature written by non-Witnesses.  And even when Ex-Witnesses decide to start listening to outside sources, there is always the fear that Jehovah is angry or Satan is lurking around the corner to snag them…”  - [Anonymous Ex-Witness.]

Just as in all other church systems, Russellites believe The Society is a literal ‘ark,’ and ‘spiritual home,’ and outside the Organization, there is no salvation.  Every person on the planet is therefore supposed to “come to the organization” to be saved.  The organization firmly express, they are the only ones who “have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed world system…”  (Watchtower, September 1, 1989, p. 19 and The Watchtower, April 1, 1982, p. 30-31.)

I wonder why JWS are so concerned about ‘salvation’ if they are merely going to be ‘annihilated’ because they reject Jesus’ staunch warning of torment in eternal hell.  It seems illogic that they go to such great lengths not to ‘die like the beasts of the field,’ without the indescribable fear of eternal punishment without Christ

THE ‘CLASS’ SYSTEM: HEAVEN VERSUS PARADISE

Jehovah’s Witnesses actually have two eternal destinations, which exclude hell or torment of any kind.  They believe that only 144,00O, (the remnant) will make it to heaven, no one else, and this number was completed in 1935, when the “door to ‘the heavenly hope’ was shut.”  Henceforward, JWs only have an ‘earthly hope.’  They know they cannot enter into heaven anymore, but they may still hope that, after “Armageddon,” when the “evil world system ruled by Satan, (not the earth itself as described throughout Scripture,) is “conquered,” they will live in a ‘restored paradise’ here on earth – a place just like the original Eden was.

Now the entire Bible, the New Testament Covenant in Christ especially, makes it clear that God is not into ‘restoring’ or ‘changing’ fallen humanity, or  sin or this earth, which is so dreadfully contaminated by humanity’s sin.  JWs won’t understand the Scriptural concept, but Jesus commanded that everyone must be spiritually born again through personal faith in, and acceptance of Him and His complete atonement in their place, (Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-5.)  This makes for ‘new creations’ in Christ, (Gal. 2:19-21,) not ‘restored sinners that joins churches, societies, and organizations.

Heaven is a spiritual place where God and the holy angels live.  At the moment of death, the ever living human spirits of sincere, personal believing disciples of the True Christ Jesus of the Bible go to live for all eternity with Him in heaven, (1 Ths. 5:23; Lu. 16:22.)  Their physical dead bodies will ‘sleep’ in the grave until Jesus’ return, to be miraculously ‘transformed’ into glorified bodies similar to Jesus’ when He rose from the dead, to join with their human spirits in heaven, (1 Ths. 4:16; 1 Cor. 15:51-54.)

The earth and everyone and everything on it will be destroyed at Jesus’ return.  2 Pt. 3:7-14 inarguably teach, “The [atmospheric] heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same Word, are reserved for fire until the Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men [not an evil world-system!]  Verse 10, “The Day of the Lord [Jesus’ return to earth,] will come as a thief in the night, [unexpectedly not secretly,] in which the [atmospheric] heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat: both the earth and the works that are in it will be
