The Obedience of the Sinless “Second Adam” in our place brought Life to every true believer.

In contrast to the first sinless Adam’s disobedience under temptation, the sinless yet fully human Jesus, [Who is also God Himself at the same time,] in the wilderness and in the garden of Gethsemane, chose to remain fully obedient by resisting temptation to obey the natural desires of His human flesh, (Mt. 4.)  Satan’s temptation, which He resisted even unto blood in the garden of Gethsemane, urged Jesus to flee the God-willed human pain and suffering that were about to come upon Him at the cross.  Hence, He prayed, “Father, Your will, not My will, be done.”  Consequently, through the obedience of the Second Adam named Jesus, came Eternal Life to all Jesus’ true, spiritual descendants — those who would personally and obediently choose to believe in Him, accept Him, and obey Him in a new lifestyle of holiness through obedience to His Moral Law, (Mt. 5:17; Jn. 1:12-13.)

In fact, as Adam and Eve (whom God had created sinless) and the fully human yet sinless Jesus Himself proved, falling to temptation has nothing to do with a sinful nature; its all about personal choice.  Hence, Paul does not call temptation ‘enticement by the devil,’ but “the weakness of the flesh,” although Paul does not deny the devil’s pressure on, and abuse of the weakness of human ‘flesh.’  That’s why Paul said, “To be carnally [or sinfully] minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace [with God.]  The carnal mind (or sinful ‘flesh’) is in enmity against God, for [by itself] it is not subject to the [spiritual or higher] law [or will] of God…”  So then, “those who are in the sinful flesh, [allowing primal self-preservation and sinful earthly-mindedness to push or lead them into disobedience to God,] cannot please God,” (Rom. 8:6-9.)

We can clearly see that although Jesus was born into this fallen world in the fullness of naturally weak, yet sinless human ‘flesh,’ Jesus did not “share in the sinful ‘flesh’ or fallen nature of sin-polluted, spiritually and mentally darkened humanity.”  Jesus shared in every aspect of the natural human ‘flesh,’ but not in the sin nature of those who, since the fall in Eden, lived by default in a state or position of sin and cursedness without God.  While Jesus was in the form of a natural, weak human, Jesus chose to remain the Most Holy God Himself, (Col. 2:9.)

God Jesus did not lay down His Divinity when He partook of the finite flesh of humanity.  In human terms, Jesus was an entirely sinless man such as this physical world has not seen since that first day when God created the “first, sinless Adam” to live and reign in the garden in Eden.

· Thus, Jesus became the “Second Adam,” Who partook wholly of the sinless, yet frail humanity of the “first Adam,” with the first Adam’s God-given ability to make His own decisions and choices. The Physical Man Jesus too, had in His sinless “flesh,” just as the “first sinless Adam,” the potential to sin against God by choice.

· However, what the first Adam failed to accomplish, (God’s mission to fill the earth with Godly physical offspring, Mal. 2:15,) the Second Adam achieved in totality, (to spiritually save and redeem all those who would chose Him as their personal Lord and Savior; filling heaven with spiritual, Godly offspring.)  For his purpose, John wrote in Chapter 1:12-13,  “Since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all [who truly believe in and sincerely strive to obey Him] will be made alive…  The first man Adam became a living being.  The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit,”  (Mt. 7:21-24.)

“In Him was [spiritual] life and the life was the light of men.  And the Light [or God Himself in the form of a sinless man] shined in the darkness [of this world...]  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among men...”

· Nevertheless, the Most High and Holy God in the form of the sinless Man Jesus did feel hunger, thirst, cold, pain, loneliness, fear, sorrow, and everything else the first Adam (and every other living being) experiences — but He never submitting to sin, (Heb. 5:6-11; Jn. 1:5, 14; Isa. 53:1-12.)

· We must remember that Jesus’ temptation went way beyond what we would ever have to endure.  His temptation transcended all human bounds because, when Jesus atoned for all of humanity, the Man Jesus did not carry a human ‘portion’ of sin and cursedness on the cross as an ordinary man would have done.  To fulfill His mission, (to accomplish the complete salvation, redemption and blessed state of the entire human race,) He carried the whole weight of all sin and cursedness for our sake!  (Gal. 3:10-14.)

What an intolerable weight that must have been!   Knowing this, John cried out, “Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the [whole] world!” (Jn. 1:29.)  “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, Who has passed through the heavens, [coming to earth as a man,] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a High Priest Who cannot sympathize with our [human] weaknesses [our human needs not our sins,] for He was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin; [without having the corruption of sin inside Him and without succumbing to the temptation to sin in His natural, human needs.]  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need,” (Heb. 4:14-16.)

· Each time Jesus was tempted, He overcame temptation by submitting His will to the will of the Father, (Lu. 22:41-44.)  The writer of Heb. 5:6-10 teaches, “In the days of His [human] flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him Who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, [not to allow the needs of His natural ‘flesh’ to push Him into sin,] though He was the Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.  [Jesus the mere man had to become obedient to the death of the cross.]

· “And having been perfected, [not as God or as a completely human man, but by overcoming and conquering perfectly all temptation through crucifying the nearly uncontrollable urge of self-preservation in order to do the will of the Father in the place of all humanity,] Jesus became the Author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.”  The Spirit Filled Bible 1991 version explains, “Jesus was perfected, not in a moral sense since He always possessed Moral perfection, but in the sense of being qualified as the Author of eternal salvation.”  Heb. 2:10, “[Hebrews] emphasizes the genuine humanity of Jesus.  This does not mean that Jesus had moral shortcomings, but that He became perfect or complete as an all-sufficient Savior,” (See Heb. 2:14, 18; 5:7-11.)

Adventists make God, the sinless Jesus Christ into the Buddha or the Krishna

The sinless Lamb of God or God Himself in the form of a man cannot be compared to occult ‘christs’ such as the Buddha and the Krishna, the so-called saviors of Buddhism and Hinduism.  These men declare that they carry the continually re-incarnating ‘christ consciousness,’ or the so-called ‘evolving spirit of the christ,’ while they possess nothing but the fallen, cursed, and sinful state or position that all other human beings have — meaning those, who live without salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ.

As fraudulent ‘christs’ and sinful human beings, they have NO eternal or spiritual life in themselves.  Neither can any of their followers achieve eternal life in the presence of the Most High God by partaking in their false ‘enlightenment’ and alleged reincarnation, which supposedly leads to an eventual god-state of complete soul-rest so that the cycle of reincarnation can ‘end.’  Heb. 9:27 says, “Man is destined to die [only] once, and thereafter, the judgment.”  These so-called ‘christs’ themselves are in a lost and sinful state without The Savior Jesus Christ.  Thus, they are incapable of leading anyone to Salvation and Eternal Life in heaven,  (Rom. 3:23-24.)  By distinction, the Real and Only Eternal Christ does not simply lead people to heaven, He Is Eternal Life in heaven for all those who personally and sincerely accept and obey Him.

SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST SOUL SLEEP, NOT ETERNAL LIFE OR PUNISHMENT AT DEATH

White also stated, “The doctrine of immortality is one of the leading deceptions of Satan…  Those who believe the souls or spirits of the righteous ‘go to be with the Lord’ at death are falling under one of the two great errors of Satan.” [White, The Great Controversy, p. 588. See also Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 405.]   Where on earth did White get this?  This is definitely not part of the contextual truth of Scripture and most importantly, the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself! (Just read Lu. 16:19-31 from the real Bible!)  As said, the entire Bible rests on the fact that “man is destined to die once, and thereafter the judgment,” (Heb. 9:27.)  No second changes.  Either heaven or eternal hell.

· Just as the Old/New and Related Apostolic Churches among other, the SDA also erroneously believes that humanity consists only as ‘dual,’ [body and soul or mind,] and not as ‘tri-part’ beings, (1 Ths. 5:23.)  Yet, the entire Bible and New Testament in particular states that man has 1) an ever-living human spirit2) a soul, which is our physical consciousness: our intellect, emotions, and will, 3) which reside in our human bodies.

Thus, the SDA believes at death, when they ‘blow out their breath,’ (which is allegedly nothing more than physical air,) their souls ‘sleep’ oblivious to anything and their bodies decay.  No judgment at the moment of death or at His return as Jesus and all the Bible writers repeatedly taught; no heaven or hell; nothing.

ADVENTISTS’ ‘TEMPORAL’ HEAVEN, ‘TEMPORAL’ PUNISHMENT, AND THEN ‘ANNIHILATION’

After “soul sleep,” the soul and body will supposedly be “re-created” to be ‘resurrected’ to face either the alleged ‘temporal judgment for the righteous,’ (meaning fully ‘holy’ SDA members,) or the alleged ‘temporal judgment for the unrighteous,’ (meaning those who did not fully adhere to everything this church requires.)

So-called ‘righteous’ SDA members will allegedly experience a temporal heaven.  After that, they will simply be annihilated.  Annihilation is actually a Jehovah’s Witness dogma.  ‘Unrighteous’ non-members will experience a temporal punishment according to the severity of their deeds.  After that, they will also be annihilated.  This ‘temporal punishment’ is something like Roman Catholic ‘Purgatory” except, there is no heaven to go to after ‘temporal hell’ like in Catholicism.

“Once judged, [everyone] will be annihilated, never to suffer again,” the SDA alleges.  But read Jesus’ truth in Mt.  7:21-24; 25:41 where He sends the “lawless” who did not obey His True Word into the “everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels!”)  John also wrote in Rev. 20:10, “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, [and of course, all those who believed his lies will follow him there...] And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”  Should you believe the True Word of God that warns, when “Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire, He will take vengeance on those who do not [personally] know God, and on those who do not obey the [true] Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” the SDA picture of ‘temporal’ heaven and hell and then ‘annihilation’ changes drastically,  (2 Ths. 1:8; Jn. 13:34.)

Even before Jesus’ inauguration of the New Testament covenant at the cross, while Old Israel still had to abide to Old Testament principles, Jesus Himself illustrated direct, eternal ‘spiritual awakening’ either in heaven or in hell at the moment of physical death.  In Lu. 16:19-31, Jesus explained in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man that the [immortal human spirit of the] rich man, (1 Ths. 5:23,) not striving to adhere to the Moral Law of Love, opened his eyes in hell directly after death, while the “beggar,” or surely, the one who truly believed in the prophesied Christ and followed Jesus as His loving disciple, opened his eyes in “paradise” or eternal heaven,  (1 Ths. 1:8-10; Mt. 25:41-46.)

Defying Jesus’ continually, White dared to proclaim God Himself a liar, as Jesus also said in Mt. 24:46, “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”  That’s why Jesus said to the man next to Him on the cross, “Today, you, [your human spirit 1 Ths. 5:23,] will be with Me in paradise, [heaven.]”  At the peril of all Adventists’ eternal souls, the writers of the Clear Word bible “removed the words “eternal life” and changed the concept of Eternal Punishment to “soul sleep.  Thus, their god supposedly states, “I have no choice but to end your lives, [to annihilate you after temporal judgment,] because in my kingdom everyone cares about everyone else.”  What blasphemy against the Most High and Holy God of the Bible; insinuating that He is cruel and loveless because He is the Creator of His universe Who reigns sovereignly over all His creatures!  Jesus God Himself loved the “whole world” SO VERY MUCH that He became a mere human to suffer, die, rise from the dead, and ascend into heaven to save everyone who choose to believe in Him and live with Him for all eternity, (Heb. 1:1-15; Jn. 3:16-18.)

ADVENTISTS’  RE-CREATION SOUNDS MORE LIKE EVOLUTION THAN BIBLICAL RESURRECTION

Ellen’s teaching is not new.  The doctrine of ‘annihilation’ was a core doctrine of the old Sadducees, whom Paul withstood with the truth of Jesus’ true Gospel in 1 Cor. chapter 15.  Verses 28-29, “If there is no [spiritual life after death and at Jesus’ return, a physical] resurrection for the [Scripturally righteous] deceased [in Christ,] then Christ is not risen.  And if Christ is not [physically] risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ [in an immoral, glorified body from the grave...]”

Merely following the same deception as the old Sadducees, White wrote, “Upon the fundamental error of natural immortality rests the doctrine of ‘consciousness in death,’ a doctrine like eternal torment, ‘opposed to the teaching of the Scriptures,’ to the ‘dictates of reason’ and to our ‘feelings of humanity.’ The theory of eternal punishment is one of the false doctrines that constitute the wine of the abominations of Babylon…  They received it from Rome, as they received the false Sabbath…”

Our ‘feelings for humanity,’ etcetera, has nothing to do with the true Word, which is the will and work of Almighty God.  No, Jesus’ sincere believers did not “receive it from Rome,” but from Jesus Christ Himself and from the contextual truth of the real Bible, Jesus’ Everlasting Word!  True New Testament Scripture teaches that, though parted from the physical body, the spiritual part of humankind, the human spirit, remains conscious after physical death, (1 Ths. 5:23.)  Paul, describing life after physical death for the truly Biblically born again children of God, wrote, “…Absent from the body, present with the Lord,” and, “to be with Christ, [being absent from the physical body] is far better.”  The context of Scripture leaves absolutely no doubt that sinners without a sincere and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal, (Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-5; Mt. 7:21-24; Lu. 16:22-31; 2 Pet. 3:7.)  To ‘fall asleep in Christ’ or to die physically does not mean that there is an ‘unconscious soul sleep’ or an ‘annihilation’ (as Jehovah’s Witnesses call it) on the other side of the grave.  To ‘fall asleep in Christ’ is not an unconscious type of ‘sleep.’  It means our dead bodies awaits the return of our heavenly-bound living human spirits ‘at the sound of the last trumpet,’ with the return of Christ. Scripturally, the ever-living human spirits of sincere believers are with Christ from the moment their bodies die physically, (1 Ths. 4:14; Lu. 16:19-31.)

The bodies of unbelievers and those who intentionally reject and disobey Jesus’ New Testament Covenant and His precepts of the Moral Law, also “wait” in their graves [Hades] while their ever-living human spirits are in eternal hell from the very moment their bodies died on this side of the grave or Hades, the domain of the dead, (Lu. 16:19-31.)

There will be a bodily resurrection (not a re-creation) for all those who died on this side of the grave.  Those who died in Christ will be resurrected onto ‘eternal life.’  Those who died without Christ will be resurrected to return to  ‘eternal punishment in the lake of fire,’ (Rev. 20:11-15.)

In fact, if Ellen’s hopeless statements were true, ‘the last enemy, death,’ can never be destroyed!  Then Christ would have suffered and died in vain, for “if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not raised.  And if Christ is not raised, then our Gospel is empty and our faith is also in vain!”  (Please read 1 Cor. 15!)

Someone wrote, “If this soul-death or soul-sleep doctrine were true, what they call resurrection would be the re-creation of an extinct personality, a thing unknown in Scripture, and where would be the link of responsibility between the old and the new?  It is precisely on the survival of the personality of the defunct that the Lord bases His argument for resurrection:  ‘God is not the God of the dead, but of the living,’ (Mt. 22:32.)

“God is not the God of ‘those who will live again,’ but ‘of the ever living.’  Ceasing to live is not the equivalent of ceasing to exist.  Humans may die as far as this world is concerned, as their ‘thoughts or purposes in that very hour perish, (Ps. 146:4; Eccl. 9:5-6.)  ‘No longer do they know anything done under the sun,’ that is, they are completely out of touch with this world, but it is not true that they are out of touch with spiritual realities, or that they forget the past.  Death is not a cessation of existence, but a separation of natural existence, as clearly described in Luke 16,” - [David Stewart, Neal Wilson, Bob Pickle, Ratzloff and Anderson]

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCRIPTURAL AND UNSCRIPTURAL ‘OBEDIENCE’

Jesus’ Gospel does not focus on accomplishing a legalistic, exceptionally high standard of obedience to make us ‘more’ acceptable to God.  Jesus’ New Commandment emphasizes our loving relationship with Him, which must manifest in our sincere attitude of loving obedience to Him, (Jn. 14:23-24.)  Although real born again believers sincerely strive to obey Jesus’ Law of Love, none will ever be able to keep all of its moral statutes.  We remain utterly dependent upon Jesus our Savior, Who fulfilled the entire Law in our place, because we could never achieve ‘perfect obedience’ in this life! - (Rom 3; 1 Jn. 1:7-10.)

If we could obey God ‘perfectly,’ even by holding to His inward Moral Law ‘perfectly,’ (which is impossible,) we could actually ‘earn’ a place in heaven!  However, every single person who ever lived, (except Jesus Christ Himself,) can only enter into heaven by realizing that we all are wholly dependent upon our God, Lord and Savior, and His complete atonement in our place!  ‘Grace’ actually means, ‘giving without expecting anything in return,’ ‘a free plan of salvation,’ ‘an unmerited way out of trouble,’ ‘undeserved favor,’ ‘undeserved help,’ ‘an unpaid escape from imminent torment.’  Paul described God’s grace in Romans 3:10-28, when he wrote, “Therefore, we conclude that we are justified, [or brought into a right, lawful standing with God] APART from the deeds of the [entire Old Testament] Law!”

But do not be deceived, the grace of God is not a license to live in sin, although even sincerely, truly born again and obedient disciples of Jesus sometimes “miss the mark” and sin! - (1 Cor. 6:9-20; 1 Jn. 1:8-10.)

Jesus commands a New Testament, Spirit-led lifestyle of repentance from sin and practical obedience to the truth of His Gospel when He says, “A New Commandment I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you…”  (Jn. 13:34!)  Jesus omitted the Old Ceremonial/Sacrificial/Ritual Temple Law as a means of salvation, redemption and blessing because it has no bearing on His New Testament Covenant of Grace, which commands only our obedience to the Moral Law, the Royal Law of Love, (Jam. 2:8.)

We must ‘strive,’ (strongly desire and sincerely endeavor,) in the power of the Holy Spirit, to obey the New Testament Law of Love, which comprises of all Jesus’ Moral, New Testament teachings.  However, in our frail or naturally “weak” human state here on earth, ‘complete’ obedience will simply never be possible.  Nevertheless, willfully unrepentant sin will spoil and eventually sever our relationship with our Most Holy God, (Mt. 7:21-24; Jam. 4:4-5; 1 Pet. 1:16.)

What we must to understand, is that Jesus did not say we must obey Him to ‘earn’ salvation and blessing.  Instead, we have to glorify Him because our Godly, obedient love for Him and our fellow man ‘prove’ that we possess the Godly character of our heavenly Father! - (Jn. 8:44!)
